The Darkness Within
My first novel, The Darkness Within, a dark suspense story, is out now, published by the Australian branch of Hachette Livre. The novel began its life as an email exchange between my partner Mil and myself. Read a synopsis, more about the book and its path to publication at The Darkness Within page.
Awards news
The Darkness Within has been highly commended at the Aurealis Awards, and has been nominated for a Ditmar and also an Australian Shadows award. I am also chuffed to report my nomination for best new talent at the Ditmars.

About me
Raised on a Queensland cattle property, I now live in Brisbane, Australia, with my partner Mil (that's her with me above at Salem, Ma., in 05) and her ever-expanding native gecko population. I work as a designer and writer for the local newspaper. I am studying for a masters in creative writing this year as well as working on several new books and short stories.
In 2004 I was director of the Aurealis Awards. In 2005 I was honoured to share the William Atheling Jnr award for criticism and review with Australian horror doyen Robert Hood.
